Posture Perfect!

Hi Beauties,

Today I want to share 3 simple posture stretches that you can do anytime, anywhere to release tight muscles and stress through your upper body! Great posture is a combination of strength and carriage. These posture focused stretches help get your upper body more open and lifted - a huge part of working to create good posture.

Whether you are feeling tight from working from home, less movement in your daily life, carrying around and sleeping with demanding little adorable people (guilty!), or too much stress, our Work From Home Stretch Break has you covered!

Jump up and join me for a quick standing Posture Stretch break! Your body will feel so good afterwards!

Standing Shoulder Opener- I am addicted to how good this simple stretch makes me feel! Use a wall, piece of furniture or a doorway as a stabilizing brace to open up through your shoulders.

Place the hand on the wall with the fingers facing up. Turn the upper body away from the hand, gently opening through the shoulder. Take a deep breath in and out, looking down as you release. Hold for 20 seconds, gently remove the hand and repeat on the other side.

Repeat the entire stretch on both sides, this time with fingers pointing down.

Back and side opener- This move gives a great stretch through the sides and back.

Take on arm up and over to the side, holding on to a door frame, wall, or window sill (pictured). Take a deep breath in and release as you increase the bend through the upper body and look up. Hold 20-30 seconds, release, and change sides.

Standing Neck Stretch- Our necks can hold on to tightness and tension, even when we think we are calm and relaxed!

Begin standing and clasp the hands together. Take an easy bend through the knees as you bend the upper body down, placing the hands on the back of the neck. Deeply inhale and exhale 3 times, looking in towards your center. Roll up very slowly, stretching the knees. Once your body feels stable upright, slide the hands down the back of the neck and look up at the sky. Inhale, exhale, repeat, and slowly release.

Have a beautiful workout!

Mary Helen
